Selective fasciculotomy of tibial nerve at treatment of spasticity of lower limbs in infants with cerebral palsy

Purpose – to asses effectiveness of selective fasciculotomy of tibial nerve in ICP patients with incurable spasticity of lower extremities.
Methods and subjects. 27 selective fasciculotimies of tibial nerve in proximal one-third of crus were performed in 15 cases with ICP. Functional tests and electromyography were used for objectification of operative results. Criteria for election for the operation were positive nerve block anesthesia test of tibial nerve.
Results. In 92.6 % cases achieved significant improvement in lower extremities. Equine-varus position of foot was decreased. The volume in foot joint was increased. Permanent physiotherapy and exercise therapy methods were used after the operation.
Conclusions. Selective fasciculotomy of the tibial nerve of lower extremities in ICP patients lead to resistant improvement of lower extremities function.
