Object – to study heat tau protein content in the serum of patients with partial epilepsy with secondary generalization with cognitive impairment under a baseline condition.
Methods and subjects. The investigation measured heat ?-protein in sera of 18 patients with partial epilepsy with secondary generalization and psychiatric complications, pharmacoresistance course and frequent seizures. Serum tau level was measured by immunofluorescent method using monoclonal anti-? antibodies and secondary monoclonal antibodies FITS conjugated.
Results. Phosphoprotein tau is axonal derived protein and cleaved tau protein with molecular weight ranged between 32–50 kDa; in sera in both phosphorylated and non- phosphorylated isoforms; clinically: 6 patients (33 %) had partial seizures with secondary generalization and 12 patients (66 %) had polymorphic seizures, all patients had severe psychiatric complications.
Conclusions. All patients with partial epilepsy with secondary generalization and cognitive impairment have increased serum level heat tau protein under a baseline condition.
Ключові слова: heat ?-protein, partial epilepsy with secondary generalization, cognitive impairment.
